And now for something new
Anyone in the mood for fiction?
Creativity is a river that runs through each and every one of us. This simple yet powerful act of expression is what defines humanity. The act of creating something with our hands and minds triggers some of the most intense feelings of reward and accomplishment in us. No wonder we were putting up hand signs inside caves more than 20,000 years ago!
However, finding the path that leads to that river is tricky. Creative folks like artists, writers, and singers can get to the path at will, but most people will accidentally stumble onto it, just like I did. These days I am getting better at finding the path at will, but it is still frustrating nonetheless. Once in a while, though, I will not only find the river but also hook something magical in that river of ideas. An idea so powerful that it won't let me sleep unless I get it all out on paper.
Most people know I write about work, management, leadership, etc. Very few know I also write fiction. Last weekend, in the grips of a creative fever, I wrote a short story where I try to capture some of our daily struggles. I have decided to share it with all of you, and I hope it serves as a companion for you all as you head into the second half of this week and into the weekend. The name of the story is "The Beast and the Tree". I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing.
Here is a PDF version and an Epub version.
Looking forward to seeing everyone’s thoughts in the comments!
P.S - If you stumble upon the river, don't just dip your toe. Stay a while. You never know what you will end up catching.
